In order to apply for Canadian Permanent Residency, you must meet a set of few criteria established up by Canadian government. Following are requirements you must meet, if you seek Permanent Residency in Canada under Canadian Experience Class:
Criteria#1
You are eligible to apply for permanent residency only if you plan to stay outside Province of Quebec.
Criteria#2
You can apply for your PR in Canada, if you are-
- A temporary foreign worker holding a minimum of 2 years of full time work experience, in the country.
- Or a foreign graduate holding a diploma/degree/certificate, from an accredited post-secondary institution in Canada, and has a minimum of 2 years of full-time work experience in the country.
Criteria#3
You must attach an independent language test results with your Permanent Residency application form. This test is taken by an agency assigned by CIC.
It is important that you have gained your skilled work experience, while working or studying in Canada. You can also apply for your Canadian Permanent Residency while working in the country. Applicants who apply within 1 year of leaving their work in Canada are also eligible to apply.
Types of Skilled work experience:
There are 3 types of skilled work experience, as defined by NOC or Canadian National Occupational Classification
First one is Skill Type O (managerial Occupations), second one is Skill Type A (professional occupations) and third being Skill Type B (technical occupations and skilled trades).
Application Assessment
If you are applying as a temporary foreign worker, points on which your application is assessed includes your work experience and your ability to speak French or English. On the other hand, if you are applying as a graduate from an accredited post-secondary educational institution in Canada, holding a valid Canadian work experience, your application will be assessed on your work experience, language ability to speak French or English as well as your education.
Principal Applicant
When in a married couple, or a couple living together in Canada, both the partners qualify for PR with above requirements, one of the partners can apply for Permanent Residency in Canada under Canadian Experience Class as a Principal Applicant.
