Immigrate to Canada

a) Skilled Worker Class:

Skilled workers are selected as permanent residents based on their education, work experience, knowledge of English and/or French, and other criteria that have been shown to help them become economically established in Canada. The term “federal skilled worker” refers to the category under which skilled workers can apply, if they want to live in any Canadian province or territory except Quebec.
Your application to come to Canada as a skilled worker will also be assessed against a point system consisting of six selection factors. The six selection factors are:

Factor 1 Education Maximum 25 points
Factor 2 Ability in English and or French Maximum 24 points
Factor 3 Experience Maximum 21 points
Factor 4 Age Maximum 10 points
Factor 5 Arranged employment in Canada Maximum 10 points
Factor 6 Adaptability Maximum 10 points
Total   Maximum 100 points
Pass Mark   67 points

* The current pass mark is 67 points for all factors combined. If your score is the same or higher than the pass mark, then you may qualify to immigrate to Canada as a skilled worker. Review the information about immigrating to Canada as a skilled worker and decide if you want to.

b) Canadian Experience Class :

If you are a temporary foreign worker or a foreign student who graduated in Canada, you often have the qualities to make a successful transition from temporary to permanent residence. You are familiar with Canadian society and can contribute to the Canadian economy. You should have knowledge of English or French and qualifying work experience.
Applying to stay in Canada permanently in your case is simple. You can do this under the Canadian Experience Class. All the guides, information and forms you need to apply are included here. Before you apply, make sure you get to know the requirements and current application procedures

You must meet these minimum requirements to apply for permanent residence under the Canadian Experience
Class. You must:

  • Plan to live outside the province of Quebec
  • Either be a temporary foreign worker with at least two years of full-time (or equivalent) skilled work experience in Canada, or a foreign graduate from a Canadian post-secondary institution with at least one year of full-time (or equivalent) skilled work experience in Canada
  • Have gained your experience in Canada with the proper work or study authorization
  • Apply while working in Canada – or – within one year of leaving your job in Canada
  • Include the results of an independent language test (from an agency designated by CIC) with your application.

According to the Canadian National Occupational Classification (NOC), skilled work experience means:<

  • Skill Type 0 (managerial occupations) or
  • Skill Level A (professional occupations) or
  • Skill Level B (technical occupations and skilled trades)

Your application will be assessed on two requirements if you apply as a temporary foreign worker:

  • Your work experience and
  • Your ability in English or French.

If you apply as a graduate of a Canadian post-secondary educational institution with Canadian work experience, it will be assessed using the above requirements, as well as:

  • Your education

c) Family Class:

This application is for Canadian citizens and permanent residents living in Canada who wishes to sponsor close family members living abroad, including:

  • Parents
  • Grandparents
  • Children adopted outside of Canada or intended to be adopted in Canada
  • Brothers or sisters, nephews or nieces, grandsons or granddaughters who are orphaned, under 18 years of age and not a spouse or common-law partner
  • Any other family member if there is no spouse, common-law or conjugal partner, son, daughter, mother, father, brother, sister, grandfather, grandmother, uncle, aunt, niece or nephew who is a Canadian citizen, registered Indian or permanent resident or whom you may sponsor.

d) Provincial Nominees:

Persons who immigrate to Canada under the Provincial Nominee Program have the skills, education and work experience needed to make an immediate economic contribution to the province or territory that nominates them. They are ready to establish themselves successfully as permanent residents in Canada.
To apply under the Provincial Nominee Program, applicants must be nominated by a Canadian province or territory.
Because the criteria for provincial nomination are determined by the individual provinces and territories, they can change without notice. For this reason, consult this site and the corresponding provincial site regularly before submitting your application.

Before you apply, make sure you are familiar with the current application procedures. After you apply, make sure you return to this web page to find out about the steps that follow.
